Antibiotics

Antibiotics is how the idea of a blog formed, from a bad experience.

I suffer badly from stress. However, I do not feel I am that stressed until my body tells me through the effects of migraines, kidney infections and until recently tonsilitis. It is the latter I will be talking about here today.

I was unaware till the second week of my term on antibiotics the consequences of taking them for so long. I had very bad (and still have) lower back pain, which I knew wasn't a kidney infection as the pain was too low. I then was greeted with a tooth abscess and a mouth ulcer; so much pain in one go! I was so tempted to take the next packet of stronger antibiotics to kill off my horrible infection. Looking on the internet I soon found out that what I had thought was curing me was actually making me more ill!

Antibiotics, I learned, should be taken alongside probiotics and especially for another two weeks once the course has finished. I didn't relise until the other symtoms/ailments occured that I knew I had a yeast inbalance in my body.

Today is my first day that I have started to take Bio Kult, a probiotic supplement, which I will take on a daily basis to help balance the bacteria. You can also go on a Candida Diet that starves the bad bacteria but I find that too restrictive for me (I'm not very good with diets!). I however, have greatly lowered my sugar content and make sure I am not feeding the bad bacteria i.e. with yeast, raw fish and rare meat.

I will be looking at other ways to relieve my stress when it arises, like a keeping a Stress Journal and/or daily meditation.  I will keep you posted!
